Lustrous jet black, this stone is formed by the quick cooling of high-silica containing lava and is classified as a volcanic glass.

Amorphous and without internal crystalline structure, this material is perfect for carving into shapes. The fine molecular structure of silica gives this material a fine, sharp edge and was used to create arrow heads in ancient cultures.
