Moon rituals harness the natural energy of the lunar phases to support personal growth and transformation. Each phase of the moon offers unique opportunities for reflection, intention-setting, and release - key to our journey. By aligning with the moon's phases, we can create a more harmonious and intentional life journey.
The gravitational forces and light reflection differ with each of the 8 phases of the moon’s cycles. These changes in energy shift, not only the earth’s tides and flow physically but they also affect our emotional body and auric vibration. We can harness these phases, their symbolism and energetic changes to add power and connection to our personal rituals.
Both the sun and the moon have a gravitational pull that affects Earth. Whilst the sun is 400 times larger than the moon, proximity trumps size when it comes to tidal movement with the moon sitting 385,000km from Earth and the sun 150 million km away from Earth.
The gravitational pull of the moon slows down the rotation of our planet, without this energy we would have over 1000 days in a year sending us spinning through the years.
The moon’s glow is caused by two light sources that change depending on the phase of the moon. The sun glows from the process of it turning 600 million tonnes of hydrogen into helium every second by the process of nuclear fusion. A full moon glows from the reflection of the sun’s rays, giving it a vivid and almost luminescent aura. A new moon is lit by the reflection of sunlight off the earth’s surface and is called ‘earthshine’. From one phase of direct sunlight to another of light reflecting off the earth, the moon’s energy shifts.
The eight phases are: New Moon, Waxing crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Last Quarter, Waning Crescent.
Working with the phases of the moon is a simple and easy way to follow the natural flow and subtle energies of nature to strengthen and empower your personal growth and manifesting abilities.
Each new phase is a time to reflect, reconnect and readjust your mindset and daily rituals and tasks to move towards your goals, however big or small they may be.
The Moon is either in a state of waxing or waning – growth or decrease. The growth phase starts at the New Moon and ends three days after the Full Moon, then begins the waning phase until the New Moon again. The full lunar cycle lasts 28 days.
Aligning daily practices and rituals with the moon involves tuning into its phases and their corresponding energies. Each phase offers distinct opportunities for growth, action, reflection, and release, allowing us to live more intentionally and harmoniously.
New Moon: Set intentions and start new projects.
Waxing Moon: Take actionable steps towards goals and build momentum.
Full Moon: Celebrate achievements and practice gratitude.
Waning Moon: Reflect, release negativity, and let go of what no longer serves you.
