WHY CRYSTALS
Crystals are powerful tools often incorporated into rituals for their energetic and symbolic properties.
A crystal’s atomic structure provides a steady vibrational quality and their amplitude can be increased through heat and/or pressure in certain minerals. These pyroelectric and piezoelectric properties are well known in various industries. Quartz and tourmaline have long been used for their energetic abilities in products from hair dryers to clocks and even the basic BBQ lighter - crystals are incredible energetic tools. Their subtle, and not-so-subtle, frequencies can interact with the body’s own electrical field to stabilise, ground and uplift our energy. A crystals colour also produces various vibrational frequencies from the visible spectrum, connecting with us in their own unique way.
On a psychological level, crystals serve as physical totems that help anchor intentions. Holding or focusing on a crystal during a ritual creates a tangible connection to the goals you wish to manifest, enhancing mindfulness and reinforcing positive thought patterns. Science supports the power of symbolic practices—belief and focused attention can lead to measurable changes in mental and emotional states. Additionally, engaging with crystals in a ritual can activate the reticular activating system (RAS) in the brain, increasing awareness of opportunities and aligning actions with intentions. Whether seen as tools for energy alignment or psychological focus, crystals enrich rituals by grounding intentions and supporting personal transformation.
SCIENCE
Labradorite, named after the Peninsula of Labrador in Canada where it was first identified by gemologists in 1770, is part of the plagioclase series of feldspars. It has a chemical composition of varying ratios of two separate feldspar minerals, albite (sodium aluminium silicate) and anorthite (calcium aluminium silicate). The two minerals alternatively layer each other in microscopic flakes throughout the stone, known to gemologists as IamelIar twinning, and are planes of weakness within the crystal’s structure.
This particular structure is responsible for Labradorite’s sheen, a colourful display of tight reflected from beneath the stone’s surface, aptly named Labradorescence. The spectral colours of light, ranging from red through to violet, reflected from the stone are a result of light interference from the thin layers of the feldspar minerals. Due to this gemstone’s remarkable structural quality, the most significant issue which may arise when it comes to the fashioning of the rough into polished pieces for jewellery setting is parting of the gemstone along these twinning/layered planes and may take only a small amount of force.

OUR ETHICS
Yes, our crystals are ethically sourced & sold.
Read more:
Ethical mining/sourcing refers to the conditions in which a crystal is unearthed and the people and/or businesses that do it. Whilst a mineral may be sourced ethically from the earth, many stones are sent to factories in other countries for cutting and polishing into spheres and generators.
The label of ethics also applies to the selling and consumer purchasing.
Crystals must be correctly identified, certified as natural with any treatments disclosed. Too often crystals are lab grown or treated in a lab and sold as natural. This is incredibly important to us (and our in-house gemmologist) so each piece is tested and certified and accompanied by and authenticity card.
We pride ourselves on our crystal ethics, from earth to home.
