HEALING
A mineral to activate the heart chakra, rose quartz acts by opening your heart to all of the loving vibes; new love, self-love, romantic love and friendship. The nurturing and soothing nature of rose quartz can enable you to heal old emotional wounds by creating a safe space to express unreleased emotions, anger and resentment to transform heavy negative energy into light, loving vibrations. Rose quartz can give you strength to forgive and feel compassion.
SCIENCE
Colour: Pale pure pink through to mid rosy pink. Stones show a characteristic cloudy translucence due to microscopic inclusions of aligned silicate mineral fibres that are also responsible for the rosy hue.
Geological occurrences: India, Brazil, Madagascar, South Africa
Crystallography: Rose quartz forms in large masses rather than prismatic crystals as it typical for other macro quartz varieties. Crystals do occur in a couple of small deposits and are extremely rare. These crystals are called ‘pink quartz’ and are owe their colour to a different mechanism.
Internal observations: The fibrous colouring inclusions, when aligned at 120 to one another, can produce an asterism (6-pointed star) when cut into domed shapes. Crystals can show a banding of white and pink areas due to large-scale healed fractures caused by geological movement. Healed fractures often show iridescence (rainbows) on their surfaces. Colour is often patchy and can show banding of white and pink colours.
Crystal care: Rose quartz can fade in direct sunlight, so keep off windowsills or any area that has sun shining too brightly.
CRYSTAL CARE
Although crystals have survived hundreds of thousands to millions of years (wow) in our earth they are still delicate and must be treated with TLC.
Amethyst fades in direct sunlight, so keep off windowsills or any area that has sun shining too brightly.
MOH's Hardness 7
Whilst amethyst isn't a 'soft' stone it is still prone to scratching and surface dulling over time if not handled with care. Cluster formations are more delicate than single crystals.

OUR ETHICS
Yes, our crystals are ethically sourced & sold.
Read more:
Ethical mining/sourcing refers to the conditions in which a crystal is unearthed and the people and/or businesses that do it. Whilst a mineral may be sourced ethically from the earth, many stones are sent to factories in other countries for cutting and polishing into spheres and generators.
The label of ethics also applies to the selling and consumer purchasing.
Crystals must be correctly identified, certified as natural with any treatments disclosed. Too often crystals are lab grown or treated in a lab and sold as natural. This is incredibly important to us (and our in-house gemmologist) so each piece is tested and certified and accompanied by and authenticity card.
We pride ourselves on our crystal ethics, from earth to home.
