Lapis Lazuli is classified as a rock, not a crystal or mineral. Lapis is an aggregate of multiple minerals including calclite, lazurite, sodalite, pyrite, mica, hauyenite and more. Known for its intense blue, lapis was utilised during the renaissance period to create pigments for paints and dyes.

A porous mineral, lapis is quite often dyed to enhance its colour. All of our lapis is sold with a certificate of authenticity to prove its natural origins.

Although crystals have survived hundreds of thousands to millions of years (wow) in our earth they are still delicate and must be treated with TLC. 

Lapis has a relatively low hardness so be careful not to keep it inside a bag with other harder/sharp crystals. Lapis contains pyrite and is also porous, so please keep dry and away from moisture as it may darken and lose its shine.
