Cookeite, a lithium-rich chlorite group mineral (LiAl₂(OH)₄[AlSi₃O₁₀]), forms in hydrothermal environments where shifts in temperature and mineral saturation create interruptions in quartz crystallisation. During these pauses, Cookeite precipitates onto the quartz surface, and as growth resumes, it becomes encased within the crystal, forming ghost-like "phantoms." These inclusions, often pale green, pink, or yellowish, enhance the optical properties of the quartz by diffusing light and creating an ethereal glow. The lithium content in Cookeite is also notable, as lithium-bearing minerals are often linked to calming and stabilising energetic effects.
