Charoite is a rare silicate mineral that crystallises in the monoclinic crystal system but is almost exclusively found in fibrous masses showing pearly sheen. Rich violet/purple is the most desirable colour and considered the highest grade.  

Named after the Chara River in Russia where it was first described in 1978, it has quickly become a highly sought after mineral.

Charoite is prone to scratching and surface dulling over time if not handled with care.
