HEALING

Tranquillityite carries an exceptionally grounding energy — the kind that reminds you of your place within vast cycles of time and transformation. Holding this deep red-brown slice offers the sensation of quiet, ancient steadiness. It supports emotional regulation by encouraging slow breathing, centred awareness and a gentle release of urgency. When life feels overwhelming, chaotic or heavy, this mineral acts like a stabilising anchor: a reminder that you can move through change at your own pace, without pressure or perfection.

Energetically, this crystal is aligned with integration, patience and long-term healing. It invites you to see your experiences from a higher vantage point, softening reactive states and bringing your attention back into the body. Use it during meditation, journaling or bedtime rituals to settle your nervous system and reconnect with your deeper wisdom. For those navigating long-term goals, grief transitions, fitness rebuilds, postpartum recovery or simply wanting a quieter mind, Tranquillityite helps you stay grounded while still feeling open, aware and quietly powerful.

SCIENCE

Tranquillityite is one of the rarest minerals on Earth — and uniquely, it was first discovered not on Earth at all, but on the Moon. It was identified in the Apollo 11 lunar samples returned from the Sea of Tranquillity in 1969, which gave the mineral its name. Only decades later did geologists confirm its terrestrial occurrence, with the most notable deposits found in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. These Earth-based specimens form within ancient basaltic and high-temperature igneous rocks, often dating back billions of years.

Mineralogically, Tranquillityite is an iron-rich, zirconium-bearing silicate that forms in extremely late-stage crystallisation zones within cooling magma. Its deep reddish-brown, slightly translucent slices often display a granular or fine-intergrown texture. The mineral is remarkably resistant to alteration, which is why it can persist in rocks as old as 3.4 billion years. Its crystal structure belongs to the orthorhombic system, and it has a Mohs hardness around 7, similar to quartz. Its presence in both lunar basalts and ancient Australian terrains reveals striking parallels between the geological processes of the Moon and early Earth.

  • Hardness: ~7 (Mohs)

  • Crystal System: Orthorhombic

  • Composition: Iron-rich zirconium silicate

  • Notable Origin: First discovered in Apollo 11 lunar samples, later found on Earth

OUR ETHICS

Yes, our crystals are ethically sourced & sold.

Read more:
Ethical mining/sourcing refers to the conditions in which a crystal is unearthed and the people and/or businesses that do it. Whilst a mineral may be sourced ethically from the earth, many stones are sent to factories in other countries for cutting and polishing into spheres and generators.

The label of ethics also applies to the selling and consumer purchasing.

Crystals must be correctly identified, certified as natural with any treatments disclosed. Too often crystals are lab grown or treated in a lab and sold as natural. This is incredibly important to us (and our in-house gemmologist) so each piece is tested and certified and accompanied by and authenticity card.

We pride ourselves on our crystal ethics, from earth to home.
